Search and rescue teams were looking for victims of a mudslide that hit the hamlet of Joya Grande in Huehuetenango, Guatemala, when they heard a dog barking from under the earth.
The military rescuers immediately began digging in the spot. After several hours of hard work looking for victims, this awesome moment when the dog’s head popped out of the hole happened.
He had been buried underground for over 18 hours. Watch the dramatic rescue below!
It was a moment to celebrate, as crews continued to search through a disaster that has claimed 5 people’s lives and destroyed nearly 100 homes.
